Apathy Is Death

Updated: Apr 14

Time is the true currency

After much work yesterday, I found myself in need of some good 'ole R&R but as I'm pushing 30 now (as I've recently stated and not long to go..), I have noted time flying by at a rapid rate. I caught myself looking at the clock and it seems as though hours have turned to minutes and minutes.. seconds. So while I've found some "free time" to write this blog post in-between 3D modeling, taking a significant course or cleaning up the house in some way or another.. it seems that my mind is always in some sort of production mode. Thankfully (but also not thankfully) this 3D render is taking longer than anticipated, but it's in 4k — So that's great, but here we are.

When I seek to go do some relaxation, I'm either finding myself multitasking with something business-related on my phone and/or laptop or wholeheartedly not relaxing. So, I've gotta ask my readers,

what do you do to relax, wind down and take the R&R time seriously?

In attempts to find the balance, I force myself to take thirty minutes or so to chill out every couple hours; refocus my brain, do something not-so-productive or whatever (thanks for the recommendation, Mom). After all, what I do may become extremely mentally exhausting and cause burnout.

One thing I have been doing during this time is focusing more on God. That's right — God. In the end, I seek to please Him and glorify The Almighty in all things that I possibly can, but it's rough and I'm certainly not perfect. But I can sure try to be as Christ-like as possible.

Evigilo Entertainment will feature many spiritual, political and moral/ethical themes in our upcoming game, but that will take a lot of time. This way, I intend to glorify God where I can. But don't get me wrong — This will not be for the faint-of-heart as many strong themes will be displayed.

Featured in this image* are layers of a few different types of view ports in Blender. From left to right, the view ports are: Wire Frame, Object and Real-Time Rendering (in Blender's Eevee). I had a thought that my time will be well-spent showcasing what I am currently working on while my program renders out this animation. On the right-middle side, you may see a 3D modeled branding iron, featuring the Paw Paw's Jerky logo in which I am creating an animation for them. If you haven't already tried James and Amy's beef jerky yet, you absolutely must give it a try — You will not regret it. Or maybe you will with their Reaper's Regret, "One Strip Challenge" — It all depends on what you get! You may read more about Paw Paw's Jerky and their story here.

Updated: Paw Paw's Jerky is no longer in business.

Apathy is Death

As stated earlier, I spend my important time multitasking for my career choice. Evigilo Entertainment takes up probably 80-90% of my time awake during the day and I often stay up later working on something EE-related; updating the website, setting up a render to complete overnight, 3D Modeling or working on a course. Sometimes it's a bit too much, but I truly believe that Apathy IS Death.

A silhouette of a man in a suit stands on a path that leads to a large pocket watch, symbolizing the inevitability of time and the journey through life.

What does that mean, you ask?

We live in a world where everything appears to be fast-paced and people are working paycheck-to-paycheck in order to simply survive. People have little time to get their R&R and enjoy their time here on Earth. When they do, it's not necessarily the best thing for them; getting hit after hit of dopamine from consecutive minute-long videos of someone doing something funny (or whatever) may be addictive and make you feel good for a little while.. but it certainly does nothing to set yourself on a course for success. Not to mention that it's actually unhealthy and can cause a hormone imbalance, contributing to mood swings and more — Dopamine is your body's happy chemical in the brain, if you didn't know.

Apathy is the lack of enthusiasm, concern or interest; a common theme among society's current populace, as is complacency. So, this does not mean that you will quite literally die from Apathy, but your soul does and then everything with it; The idea that one has no drive to do what one loves to do is so sad. There are only so many things that truly resonate with you. I strongly advise that you do your best to pull yourself out of that situation, if you're in it — Do more than just survive. I firmly believe that we only have one life here on Earth, I'm going to live it to the best of my ability.

While I personally believe that in the end, crushing/grinding will get me where I need to be, I know that I must take time to relax. I would recommend that others attempt to work on themselves as much as possible; doing positive things for oneself is a great way, do things other than watch TV with your family. Do not become complacent with yourself, get excited about what you're doing; hobbies, work, personal projects. Most of the time, I enjoy what I'm doing which is great for everyone.
